Dr. Priti S Mohanty, Professor
Dr. Priti S. Mohanty, Professor, School of Chemical Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University, has been recently invited to undertake collaborative research at the Department of Physics, University of Fribourg, Switzerland, under a prestigious research programme supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). The collaboration focuses on advancing fundamental understanding of soft matter and colloidal systems through a combination of experimental and computational approaches.
As a significant outcome of this international collaboration, a research article titled “Electrostatic Interactions Reshape the Internal Architecture of Ionic Microgels” has recently been published in the prestigious Journal of Colloid and Interface Science (2026). The publication carries a joint affiliation between KIIT Deemed to be University, India, and the University of Fribourg, Switzerland.
The study provides new insights into how electrostatic interactions govern the internal architecture of ionic microgels, contributing to the rational design of advanced soft materials with potential applications in biotechnology, sensing, drug delivery, and functional materials engineering.
The collaboration has also created valuable international research opportunities for KIIT scholars. As an example, Mr. Amrita Ghosh Majumdar, a fourth-year PhD scholar working under the supervision of Dr. Priti S. Mohanty, recently underwent a fully funded research internship at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, where he gained advanced research training and actively participated in ongoing collaborative projects.
These achievements reflect KIIT’s commitment to fostering international collaborations, promoting high-impact research, and providing global exposure and training opportunities for its students and researchers.
